Rio Tinto weighs options amid declining iron ore quality

Rio Tinto executive Simon Trott says all options are on the table as the world’s largest supplier of iron ore grapples with the challenge of declining ore quality at its flagship mines in the Pilbara.
This week, Rio initiated its largest product strategy review in over a decade as it contends with depleting Australian mines, increased availability of higher-grade iron ore from regions like Guinea, and growing pressure from steel mills to reduce carbon emissions.
