Israel and Iran must stay away from the brink
Outside Hamas, nobody in the Middle East has much to gain from an all-out war. But that does not make the off-ramps from conflict any easier to find.
The Middle East has not yet exploded into a wider regional war. Such a conflagration has been the chief fear in the world’s capitals since Hamas launched its brutal assault on Israeli civilians on October 7 last year. So far, those fears have not materialised.
But are there any off-ramps from these Middle East tensions? Or could things still get worse from here?
