Policing deal to squeeze out China on agenda for Pacific Islands talks

Pacific leaders are poised to endorse a new Australian-backed policing agreement as part of latest efforts to squeeze out China’s efforts to provide security for the region, when they meet in Tonga this week.
Leaders at the Pacific Islands Forum will also try to drum up more global support for a $US500 million ($735 million) fund to help Pacific nations adapt to climate change, and also discuss recent unrest in New Caledonia.
