One of the ABC’s highest profile journalists, 7.30 chief political correspondent Laura Tingle, has been counselled by the public broadcaster’s news chief after she described Australia as a racist country.
At a Sydney Writers’ Festival event moderated by former Insiders presenter Barrie Cassidy at the weekend, Tingle, the ABC’s staff-elected board member and a columnist at The Australian Financial Review, criticised Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s comments about migrants.
