‘Show leadership’: Palestinian plea ahead of key UN vote

Palestine’s local envoy wants Australia to break with the US and support Palestinian membership of the United Nations, saying this would demonstrate global leadership and acknowledge the sentiment of local Muslims.
Ahead of a key UN General Assembly vote on Friday night (AEST), the Albanese government is still weighing whether to abstain – the most likely option – or vote in favour of the resolution to recognise Palestine in the UN.
