Introducing a tax/levy on carbon emissions in Australia is a bit like legislating gun control in the United States (“Carbon price call to fund ‘green superpower’ bid”).

It is far and away the best solution to a serious problem, but politicians can’t bring themselves to do it, for fear of the political consequences.
