Melbourne start-up chases AI gold rush to US with $19m

Fast-growing Australian start-up Marqo will move its head office from Melbourne to San Francisco to cash in on the artificial intelligence boom after closing a $US12.5 million ($19 million) series A funding round led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Lightspeed.
Founded by two Amazon alumni, Tom Hamer and Jesse Clark, Marqo has built a vector search engine that allows developers to use the latest AI models in their applications.
