Jakarta | Indonesia’s popular President Joko Widodo has backed away from last-minute campaigning in the race to choose his successor amid a storm of criticism over his perceived election meddling, which could sully his legacy after a decade in office.
Three rival candidates are set to hold final huge rallies in Jakarta on Saturday before more than 160 million Indonesians head to the polls next week to elect a new president in the world’s biggest single-day vote.
