Employers need to gear up on staff e-bikes
Cycling accounts for about 1 per cent of Australian work commutes. New carbon accounting requirements and a bid to get staff back in the office could change that.
Dickon Boyles began commuting to work by e-bike as part of a free four-week trial. He now pays $55 a week for a bike that allows him to ride from home in Sydney’s Mosman to work in Macquarie Park.
It’s a hilly 50-minute ride from the lower north shore to the business precinct in the northern suburbs where Boyles works as a corporate events manager.
