Australia’s energy grid is widely exposed to climate change disruption and the risks will worsen without better mitigation, analysis from Zurich Insurance Group and economic advisers Mandala Partners shows.
Western Australia and the Northern Territory are most at risk, according to the analysis, which maps energy assets against climate scenarios developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
