China’s economic crisis has left investors grappling with two key questions.

The first and most immediate concern is whether Beijing will be able to prevent the bursting of the country’s real estate bubble from morphing into a full-blown financial crisis. But the second – and more worrying – is whether the world’s second-largest economy is doomed to fall into long period of stagnation, similar to that experienced by Japan after 1991.
