The Square Peg co-founder has been up to his elbows in Australian business since the early 1990s, but admits he lacks one key venture capitalist skill.

Within minutes of arriving at our sunny corner at Cucinetta, a bijou Italian restaurant in Melbourne’s South Yarra, Paul Bassat confesses he’s a fussy eater.
“I reckon it’s my mum’s fault because she indulged it when I was young,” he says as he settles into the leather chair and accepts sparkling water. “But I love, love food.”
