Indigenous leader Marcia Langton has implored Australians to support the Voice to parliament proposal, describing it as a way to end the “misery fest” of disadvantage facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Crying as she stood alongside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at a press conference at Parliament House on Thursday, Professor Langton defended previous advisory groups and Indigenous organisations established to improve policy, saying claims they had not worked effectively were wrong.
