Paul Brereton, the NSW judge who led the investigation into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan, has emerged as the federal government’s pick to lead the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
Justice Brereton, who sits on the NSW Court of Appeal, has been discussed as a likely candidate and according to well-placed sources will be taken to cabinet as the choice of Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus.
