An economically rationalist climate transition policy
The national economic policy think tank has come up with a policy that centre-right parties supposedly committed to free market principles should embrace.
The Productivity Commission’s 1000-page Advancing Prosperity five-yearly report card on the nation’s productivity stall traverses the standard productivity-enhancing reform topics of tax, industrial relations, skills and competition.
Yet perhaps the most important place to start is with what the national economic policy think tank has to say about the “key productivity challenge” of progressing Australia’s “huge transformation” away from fossil fuel-based prosperity in the least cost way possible.
