Last month, Mark Zuckerberg hit the zeitgeist by declaring that 2023 was “the year of efficiency”, by which he meant a lower headcount and reduced operating costs.
Adaptation is what they’re skilled at, but the big US technology companies have been particularly adept in changing the language they use in communicating with investors.
Instead of emphasising the prospects for the future, the focus now is on their plans for trimming costs through greater efficiencies.
