Bendigo and Adelaide Bank chief executive Marnie Baker said “crazy” behaviour from big players hit lending growth, including in its core agricultural banking business, but rising interest rates and discipline writing new loans helped boost first-half cash earnings.
After Commonwealth Bank of Australia reported strong growth in business lending, Ms Baker said agri lending competition was just as bad as the intense competition in mortgages.
