Almost two years ago to the day this weekend, then prime minister Scott Morrison lined up for his first dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. It was February 21, 2021, a Sunday, and he wanted to show Australians he had complete confidence that the vaccine would do its job safely.

It worked. Although delays in the vaccine rollout and conflicting advice – especially over AstraZeneca’s vaccine – created stumbling blocks, most of the country eventually rolled up their collective sleeves and got their first two doses of the vaccine by the end of 2021.
