Anthony Albanese is doubling down on his principles-based approach to the Voice referendum while insisting that its establishment can only improve practical outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

Despite general community goodwill about the concept of constitutional recognition, support for the Voice has slipped over the summer, in part because of the confusion about just what it is, amid calls from the Opposition for more details of its structure and scope.
