My first message from an Australian business leader about Jim Chalmers’ essay was far more succinct than the 6000 words that provoked it.

“I like Jim Chalmers, but the idea of rewriting the rules of capitalism is preposterous,” the terse SMS declared in response to the Treasurer’s exposition on “values-based capitalism”.
