The Coalition’s $319 billion Gonski 2.0 funding has done little to arrest falling academic performance and school attendance rates and clear goals should be imposed on future agreements, a review of the system has concluded.

The Productivity Commission’s final report into the five year federal-state funding agreement painted a picture of flawed system in need of a redesign, with greater emphasis on lifting academic results and supporting wellbeing.
