New Centre for Disease Control must be free of political interference
The new Australian Centre for Disease Control should be fully independent, empowered by its own legislation to operate nationally, and funded from federal and state governments, with authority to freely speak, according to the Australian Medical Association.
The AMA, which is a lobby group for doctors, has also called for a mandatory log of all advice provided to government, arguing that “mandating the provision of the summary of advice builds the necessary public accountabilities” into the CDC structure.
