Anthony Albanese is staring down political and industry critics of his energy intervention plan by predicting the legislation for price caps on gas and coal will pass Parliament this week, and accusing the gas industry of “jumping at shadows” over a tougher code of conduct surrounding contract negotiations.

The Australian Greens are threatening to thwart the price cap legislation during Thursday’s special one-day sitting if there is any compensation for coal producers left out of pocket by the $125-per-tonne cap to be imposed on thermal black coal.
