AGL Energy’s lack of a “true north” star has left it exposed to a guerilla campaign by Atlassian co-founder and Grok Ventures’ Mike Cannon-Brookes, who looks sure to get his way at Tuesday’s annual meeting where up to four of his candidates will be voted on to AGL’s board.

Tuesday’s meeting at the Melbourne Recital Centre at Southbank will host Australia’s most talked-about proxy war. Shareholders will be able to voice their concerns and force change at AGL, which was left looking clay footed last week when rival Origin Energy struck an $18.4 billion conditional deal with former AGL suitor Brookfield and US private equity firm EIG.
