Pacific, South-East Asia winners in $2b aid boost

Australia will pump an extra $2 billion into the Pacific and South-East Asia in foreign aid, security cooperation and infrastructure grants as the Albanese government boosts its diplomatic outreach in key regions to counter China’s influence and climate change.

Total overseas development assistance (ODA) will rise to $4.65 billion in 2022-23 as Labor fulfils a key election promise to rebuild the foreign aid program in the October budget.
