Optus hack prompts $5.5m for privacy commissioner

Outrage over the Optus hack has failed to mobilise the government beyond earmarking $5.5 million for the Australian Information Commissioner to investigate the breach, and pledging $31.1 million to extend a program for securing government networks.
Treasury confirmed it would extend the Australian Public Service cyber pilot, a program designed to better fortify government departments against the intrusions of online criminals that was launched in the March budget.
