The AFL has signed a “historic” $4.5 billion broadcast deal with free-to-air network Channel Seven and pay TV provider Foxtel which will keep the prized football rights locked up with the two broadcasters for seven more years.

In one of his final acts as AFL chief executive, Gillon McLachlan signed the deal on Monday night with Seven and Foxtel with support from Telstra on digital rights. It means games will continue to be aired by the broadcasters for seven more years, starting from the 2025 season until 2031.
