Three names have emerged from the pack as the Albanese government moves to the final stages of its search to replace the “mensch” of the High Court, Justice Patrick Keane.

Former solicitor-general Justin Gleeson, SC, Jayne Jagot of the Federal Court and Robert Beech-Jones of the NSW Supreme Court are foremost in discussions about who should become the 56th judge of Australia’s top court.
