Labor escalates fight against ‘tricky’ offshore marketing hubs

The Albanese government will give the Australian Tax Office the resources it needs to chase the “lurks and loopholes such as marketing hubs” used by multinationals, says assistant treasury minister Andrew Leigh.

Writing in The Australian Financial Review, which revealed on Monday that gas giant Shell is selling Queensland gas to global customers via a Singapore marketing hub, Dr Leigh said Labor wanted to work with business to make the tax system fairer.
