The wording of the referendum proposal for the Indigenous Voice to parliament is not the problem. In fact, its elegance and simplicity is a virtue.
But the devil will be in the detail, or the lack thereof, if the Labor government pushes ahead without giving voters a clear idea of how it will work. Yet, that seems to be the preferred course. To rely on the desire of the PM to get it done and the support of those who think it’s long overdue.
