Gas, coal project approvals in firing line
Woodside Energy’s extension of the North West Shelf gas project and Whitehaven Coal’s Narrabri underground coal project in NSW are among 19 fossil fuel ventures subject to a fresh legal challenge due to threats from climate change.
The Environment Council of Central Queensland has formally submitted requests to federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek to reconsider initial approvals for almost every pending coal and gas project across the country to properly consider their climate impact on significant animals and places.
