China halves quarantine in major COVID-19 policy shift

Tokyo | China has halved its quarantine time for travellers arriving in the country to one week in the first significant easing of President Xi Jinping’s tight border controls since the start of the pandemic.

China, one of the last countries in the world still pursuing a zero-case strategy, said 14-day hotel quarantine for international arrivals would be cut to one week but did not give a date for when the new rules would apply.
