The gap between demand and supply of workers in the digital space, particularly artificial intelligence, is growing at such a pace, Australia will continue to be at a perilous disadvantage compared to more technologically educated countries.

It has been predicted that for each of the next five years, an extra 50,000 new IT professionals will be needed to meet the needs of industry and government, yet Australian tertiary education institutions are producing less than 7000 a year.
