Crossbench cuts could delay ICAC bill: Haines

Independent MP Helen Haines has warned that the Albanese government’s proposed staffing cuts for crossbenchers could delay the establishment of a federal anti-corruption commission as she prepares for talks on the issue this week.

Dr Haines, who will hold a meeting with Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus in Canberra on Thursday, said she was “very concerned” at moves to reduce the number of advisers for crossbench MPs from four to one.
