Liberals are losing hope of repeating 2019
Within the party there is an expectation that the best result will be a hung Parliament, and even then the Coalition would find it tough to form a government.
“I don’t know that people want to vote the Liberals out,” says one federal Liberal MP. “They want to vote him out.”
The “him” is, of course, Prime Minister Scott Morrison. The “why” is multi-varied. From a weariness over political fighting, endless climate debates and Morrison’s reluctance to create an anti-corruption agency, the little-understood leader Australians entrusted with government in 2019 can no longer inspire them.
