Star moved Suncity junket into secret room: inquiry

The Star allowed junket operator Suncity to continue running a high roller gambling business in a secret, unbranded private room at its flagship Sydney casino even after chief executive Matt Bekier had told the market in August 2019 it was ending their relationship, an inquiry has heard.

A senior Star executive, appearing before an inquiry into the casino giant on Wednesday, agreed it was “quite wrong” to say the relationship had ended, admitting the junket “was still operating at the Star, albeit not under the Suncity banner”.
