James Gorman’s calm and measured response to the latest volatility in financial markets caused by the Ukraine invasion can be viewed through the prism of his experiences at Morgan Stanley during the global financial crisis.
Gorman, who is chairman and chief executive of the $US148 billion ($201 billion) bank, gave The Australian Financial Review Business Summit a frank and open description of what happened during the GFC in 2008.
