Frydenberg jettisons dodgy car park promise amid local backlash

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has dumped a long-standing and controversial promise to build four commuter car parks in his seat of Kooyong following a strong local backlash as well as national condemnation.

In a sign of how vulnerable even supposedly safe Liberal seats are at the election expected in May, Mr Frydenberg has bowed to community pressure and junked a proposal to build the car parks, which were to cost $65 million.
