Putin ups the nuclear ante
Vladimir Putin has caused the West to rethink the reality of war in Europe and that will mean a lot more spending on defence as well as rare unity in NATO – at least for now.

Putting Russia’s nuclear forces onto higher alert supposedly in response to “aggressive statements” about Russia from NATO leaders sounds like more of Putin’s rhetorical theatrics, including having his order to Russian military officials staged for television.
