Until very recently, fear of missing out (FOMO) prompted investors to flood into any market they could find. Stock markets tore higher, crypto markets dominated headlines and property prices hit record highs.

But recently, that FOMO has turned into fear-of-being-left-holding-the-bag. The threat of rising interest rates has sparked sell-offs across the board, with tech darlings suffering some of the steepest falls.
