Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has challenged Mark McGowan to name the reopening date for the West Australian border, blaming the state government for not properly preparing its hospital system for COVID-19 infections.
Deriding the Labor leader as “the Prince of Perth”, Mr Joyce said the time for hard border closures had ended. The state government last week delayed its planned February 5 reopening date, in a bid to drive up booster rates and keep out the omicron variant.
