Japan’s Kishida to visit Australia this week

Tokyo | Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is preparing for a visit to Australia later this week to sign an armed forces agreement and hold high-level talks on regional security amid shared concerns about China.
While Tokyo is holding off on announcing the trip due to concerns that Australia’s soaring COVID-19 cases could stillderail plans, it is believed arrangements are in place to push ahead with a short visit later this week.
