The Morrison government could use new laws to target dangerous misinformation on popular social media platforms, if new voluntary rules don’t curb the problem.
Communications Minister Paul Fletcher on Wednesday hit out at lies and propaganda about COVID-19 vaccinations circulating online, warning platforms a voluntary code implemented as a result of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission digital platforms inquiry must work.
