Kabul | Taliban fighters violently suppressed a women’s protest in the Afghan capital Kabul, while 120 kilometres to the north ex-Afghan army and militia members battled the Islamist group in Panjshir province, as pockets of anti-Taliban resistance continued to flare up.
Meanwhile, domestic flights resumed with state-run Ariana Afghan Airline taking off from Kabul airport, which does not have a functioning radar system. Airline official Shershah Stor told The Associated Press the flights took place Saturday (Sunday AEST) to western Herat, southern Kandahar and northern Balkh provinces. Three more flights were due on Sunday.
