Extra 4m Pfizer doses bring freedom nearer

Australia could hit its national 70 per cent vaccine target for easing restrictions by mid-October, two weeks earlier than forecast, after Scott Morrison secured an extra 4 million Pfizer doses in a swap with Britain.

With the first doses expected to leave London on Sunday, Mr Morrison said it would double availability of the sought-after Pfizer vaccine to more than 9 million doses this month, bringing supplies forward to meet demand after a troubled rollout.
