As the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and Boris Johnston’s finance adviser for the upcoming COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow, you might expect former Bank of England and Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney to be the ultimate corporate eco-warrior, a business leader ready to thump the table about the existential threat of climate change and the desperate need to starve dirty emitters of capital.
But Carney came (virtually, of course) to the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors annual conference on Wednesday with a simple but surprising challenge for Australian investors.
