Victorian Liberals are reasonably confident the party will hold the marginal seat of Casey in Melbourne, which will be vacated at election time with the retirement of House of Representatives Speaker Tony Smith.

Casey has been a Liberal seat since 1984 and Mr Smith has held it for the past 20 years, but his current margin is just 4.6 per cent.
