Telsa is suspending vehicle purchases using bitcoin over concerns about “rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for bitcoin mining and transactions”, chief executive officer Elon Musk said in a Twitter post.
Bitcoin plunged; it was 7.1 per cent lower at $US52,467.36 near 8.55am AEST, on bitstamp.com. The cryptocurrency is down near 19 per cent from the record it set about a month ago.
