McKinsey advises government on making a COVID-19 vaccine locally

McKinsey has won a three-month contract to provide “advice on a business case for an onshore COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing capability utilising an mRNA platform” for the Department Of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. The contract is worth $2.2 million. Vaccine experts have previously said that mRNA vaccines, including the Pfizer vaccine, could be manufactured in Australia but warned it would take a long time and a significant investment for this to be possible.
