Drought-breaking rain and the return of La Nina have put Australia’s agricultural output on track for a record haul in 2020-21, nearing $66 billion in total along with a substantial lift in farm income.

Following three years of decline, the rebound from drought is forecast to boost the value of production by about 8 per cent, a turnaround in the national forecast the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) describes as exceptional.
